Since closing in September 2025\, the Blue Whale has undergone renovations to add a new visitor center\, new restrooms\, expanded parking\, improved lighting\, landscaping\, walkways\, a playground and a fresh coat of paint for the whale. \nCome celebrate 100 years of Route 66 at the Blue Whale on May 30\, 2026. The day’s activities include a 5K and fun run\, arts and crafts\, food vendors\, a grand opening ceremony with ribbon cutting and live music.
