The Talala Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Talala and its residents.
Located at the Talala Historical Museum, the Veterans Memorial honors local area veterans and their service and sacrifice to our country. The centerpiece of the memorial is a sculpture made by Talala artist Sandra Van Zandt of the “High and Mighty” Eagles. The memorial also includes a plaque dedicated to Roy W. Harmon, the first Medal of Honor recipient in Rogers County.
What started as an accident is now one of northeastern Oklahoma’s most memorable and fun photo ops. In 1959, a cement mixer wrecked, leaving behind a heavy load of dry cement. Over the years, artists and local citizens have painted the mixer many times. In 2011, it was redesigned into a space capsule with the NASA logo, rocket thrusters and shiny aluminum paint.
The Common Ground Ranch & Arena hosts several rodeo events throughout the year, including a mutton-bustin’ qualifier for the Will Rogers PRCA Rodeo.
