September Events Brings Fall Fun to Rogers County

From carnival rides and Route 66 history to pumpkin picking and small-town festival fun, Rogers County has plenty happening as September winds down. Visitors can enjoy several upcoming events throughout the county, beginning with the Rogers County Fair September 17-20.

The 112th annual Rogers County Fair returns to Claremore September 17-20 with four days of family-friendly entertainment. Fairgoers can enjoy carnival rides, livestock shows, fair food, live music, exhibits, shopping and activities for all ages. Admission to the fair is free.

Route 66 takes center stage September 20 at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore with a special screening of “Route 66: The Main Street of America.” The new feature-length documentary commemorates the centennial of the legendary highway through stories of the people and communities along Route 66. Following the screening, filmmaker John Paget and featured participants from the film will take part in a live question-and-answer session.

Fall festivities continue September 22 with the opening of the Pumpkin Festival at Shepherd’s Cross near Claremore. Running through November 7, the annual festival invites visitors to wander the pumpkin patch, meet farm animals, explore the hay maze, enjoy games and demonstrations, take family photos and ride a tractor-pulled wagon through the hay meadow. Admission and parking are free, with pumpkins, wagon rides, crafts and locally made goods available for purchase.

On September 26, downtown Talala will welcome families for the annual Talala Fall Festival. The day includes a 5K run, local vendors, food trucks, inflatables, a petting zoo and face painting. Festivities continue into the evening with a street dance featuring live music from Paul Bogart from 7-10 p.m.

Those are just a few of the events happening throughout Rogers County this September. Visitors can also find car shows, 5K runs, movie screenings, live music and other activities across the county.
